SLIDE 1 (HOOK / COVER) ⚡ NEC Quick Hit: Corrosion, Temperature & Communications (Part 3) ⚡
Corrosion protection, condensation seals in temperature shifts, and mandatory communications outlets in new homes—Article 720 covers it all. Let's break it down! 👇
SLIDE 2 (CORROSION PROTECTION & WET LOCATIONS) Battling the Environment:
Suitable Materials: All raceways, boxes, cable armor, and hardware must be suitable for the installation environment.
Indoor Wet Locations: In dairies, laundries, or wet processing plants where wiring is exposed, boxes and raceways must be mounted with at least a 6 mm (¼ in.) airspace between them and the supporting wall.
SLIDE 3 (CONDENSATION SEALS & COMMUNICATIONS OUTLETS) Temperature Shifts & Home Runs:
Condensation Control: Raceways passing between areas of differing temperatures (like walk-in freezers) must be sealed with approved sealants to prevent warm air circulation and condensation buildup.
New Construction Mandate: For new dwellings, a minimum of one accessible communications outlet cabled to the service provider demarcation point is required (720.9).
SLIDE 4 (WRAP-UP) 💡 Apprentice Pro-Tip:
Section 720.10 strictly prohibits sharing limited-energy raceways or cable trays with any plumbing, gas, air, or drainage piping. Low-voltage pathways stay electrical only!
