SLIDE 1 (HOOK / COVER) ⚡ NEC Quick Hit: Class 4 Listing Requirements (Part 2 - Article 726) ⚡
Can you mix and match any Class 4 transmitter and receiver on a job site? Section 726.2 outlines strict listing and interoperability rules. Let's check out the gear requirements! 👇
What Must Be Listed?
Transmitters & Receivers: Power sources must be listed as Class 4 transmitters (evaluated under standards like UL 1400-1).
Terminals & Hardware: All distribution terminals, active components, and connecting hardware used in Class 4 systems shall be listed.
Specific System Pairings:
Interoperability Marking: Listing info must specify compatible devices if an active component relies on specific receivers or controllers for fault monitoring and current control.
Why? If a transmitter relies on a specific receiver's feedback loop to detect human contact, pairing it with an incompatible device defeats the safety system!
💡 Apprentice Pro-Tip: Always check the manufacturer's compatibility list before staging Class 4 transmitters and receivers. Mixing brands or unlisted hardware will immediately fail your inspection!
