SLIDE 1 (HOOK / COVER) ⚡ NEC Quick Hit: Receptacle Warnings, GFCI & Studio Lighting (Part 4) ⚡
What warning labels must appear on technical power receptacle faceplates? Why must a standard 120V outlet be placed within 6 feet? Let's finish Article 647! 👇
Protecting Receptacle Outlets:
Universal GFCI: All 15- and 20-ampere technical power receptacles must be GFCI protected.
Mandatory Marking: Outlets, adapters, and faceplates must bear the warning:
👉 "WARNING — TECHNICAL POWER. Do not connect to lighting equipment. For electronic equipment use only. 60/120V 1Φac GFCI protected."
Convenience Outlets & Studio Lights:
120V Standard Outlet Within 6 Feet: A standard 125V single-phase receptacle connected to a grounded neutral must be located within 1.8 m (6 ft) of all 60/120V technical receptacles for vacuum cleaners and non-technical gear!
Luminaires: Studio lights wired to 60/120V technical power must be permanently installed, listed for 60/120V, and have no exposed lamp screw shells.
💡 Apprentice Pro-Tip: Maintenance staff plugging a standard 120V vacuum cleaner into a technical power outlet can cause audio noise or trip delicate GFCI systems. Installing a standard 120V outlet within 6 feet keeps cleaners off the technical grid!
