SLIDE 1 (HOOK / COVER) ⚡ NEC Quick Hit: Manufactured Wiring Systems (Part 1 - Scope & Basics) ⚡
Prefabricated plug-and-play wiring harnesses above commercial drop ceilings—welcome to Article 604. How does the Code regulate off-site manufactured subassemblies? Let's break down the scope and installation rules! 👇
SLIDE 2 (SCOPE & LISTING REQUIREMENTS)What is a Manufactured Wiring System?
Off-Site Prefabrication: Applies to field-installed wiring systems using factory-made subassemblies for branch circuits, remote control, signaling, and communications in accessible areas.
Mandatory Listing: All manufactured wiring systems and associated components must be listed (evaluated to standards like ANSI/UL 183).
SLIDE 3 (SECURING AND SUPPORTING)Following Underlying Chapter 3 Rules:
Manufactured wiring systems must be secured and supported in accordance with the specific cable or conduit article used in their construction.
Because most systems are built using Armored Cable (Type AC, Article 320) or Metal-Clad Cable (Type MC, Article 330), you must follow those cable-specific support intervals!
SLIDE 4 (WRAP-UP) 💡 Apprentice Pro-Tip:
Prefab wiring whips speed up commercial lighting and power installations massively, but remember that the underlying physical support rules from Chapter 3 still apply every step of the way!
