⚡ NEC Quick Hit: RV Park Site Requirements (Part 4) ⚡
Site receptacle percentages, 50A/30A/20A breakdowns, and underground burial rules—let's finish Article 551! 👇
SLIDE 2 (RV SITE RECEPTACLE BREAKDOWN)
Mandatory Park Infrastructure:
Site Equipment Percentages: Every RV site with electrical supply must provide a 20A, 125V weather-resistant receptacle. In addition, a 30-ampere receptacle is required at a minimum of 70% of sites, and a 50-ampere receptacle at a minimum of 40% of new sites (20% for existing sites). Sites with 50A must also feature a 30A receptacle.
Underground Protection: Direct-burial cables entering or leaving trenches must be protected by approved raceways extending at least 450 mm (18 in.) into the trench from finished grade.
SLIDE 3 (PARK DISTRIBUTION & PEDESTAL PLACEMENT)
Safe Campground Feeder Layout:
Disconnects & Placement: Site supply equipment requires a disconnecting switch or circuit breaker located on the left (road) side of the parked vehicle within specific positioning ranges from the rear of the stand.
Neutral Sizing: Feeder and branch-circuit neutral conductors supplying recreational site distribution must not be reduced in size smaller than the ungrounded conductors.
SLIDE 4 (WRAP-UP) 💡 Apprentice Pro-Tip:
Always kill the breaker at the site pedestal before plugging or unplugging a 50-amp RV cord to prevent arcing and protect against intermittent neutral overvoltage!
