SLIDE 1 (HOOK / COVER)
⚡ NEC Quick Hit: Park Trailer Power Supplies (Part 2) ⚡
Voltage converters, 30-amp/50-amp feeder cords, and mast installations—let's check Sections 552.20 through 552.43! 👇
SLIDE 2 (CONVERTERS & COMBINATION SYSTEMS)
Bridging AC and DC Power:
Converter Sizing: To size AC-to-DC voltage converters, apply specific demand percentages to total connected 12V loads: 100% for the first 20 amperes, 50% for the second 20 amperes, and 25% for all loads above 40 amperes.
Converter Enclosure Bonding: The non-current-carrying metal enclosure of a voltage converter must connect to the unit frame using an 8 AWG copper conductor minimum. Autotransformers are strictly prohibited.
SLIDE 3 (POWER SUPPLY CORDS & PERMANENT FEEDS)
Feeder Assembly Rules:
Single Feeder Limit: The power supply to a park trailer must consist of not more than one listed 30-ampere or 50-ampere park trailer power-supply cord (with molded or attached cap) or a permanently installed feeder.
Permanent Cords: Power-supply cords must be permanently attached to the panelboard enclosure (or a junction box) with strain relief and contain a continuous green (or green with yellow stripes) equipment grounding conductor.
Mast Feeder Installations: If calculated loads exceed 50 amperes or use a permanent feeder, supply must utilize a mast weatherhead containing four continuous color-coded conductors or approved raceways to the underside.
SLIDE 4 (WRAP-UP) 💡 Apprentice Pro-Tip:
Adapter pigtails, extension cords, and makeshift extensions must never be shipped with or attached to a park trailer power-supply cord!
