⚡ NEC Quick Hit: Cannabis Lab Wiring Methods (Part 3 - Article 512) ⚡
What raceways are legally permitted inside a cannabis extraction lab? How do you run fixed wiring above classified areas? Let's review Sections 512.10 and 512.13! 👇
Strict Hazardous Raceways:
Inside Class I Areas: All wiring installed within hazardous locations defined in Section 512.5 must comply strictly with Article 501 Part II (for divisions) or Section 505.15 (for zones).
Overhead Protection Rules:
Above Booths and Equipment: Other than above cannabis oil booths, all fixed wiring installed at an elevation above hazardous classified locations must be enclosed in metal raceways, PVC conduit, RTRC conduit, or ENT conduit.
Permitted Overhead Cables: If cables are used overhead, they must be restricted to Type MI, Type TC, or Type MC.
💡 Apprentice Pro-Tip: Always verify that your overhead cable selections in processing facilities default to metal-clad (Type MC) or mineral-insulated (Type MI) assemblies when passing near extraction zones!
