SLIDE 1 (HOOK / COVER)
⚡ NEC Quick Hit: Low-Voltage Lighting (Part 1 - Article 411) ⚡
Low-voltage lighting scopes, system listing rules, and the strict ban on reconditioned components—welcome to Article 411! How does the National Electrical Code regulate low-voltage lighting systems? Let's break down the fundamentals! 👇
SLIDE 2 (SCOPE & LISTING REQUIREMENTS)
What Article 411 Covers & Requires:
System Scope: Covers low-voltage lighting systems and their associated components.
Listing Mandate: Luminaires, power supplies, and fittings (including exposed bare conductors) must be listed for use as part of the same identified lighting system.
Assembled Parts: Systems can be assembled from listed parts, including low-voltage luminaires, power supplies, fittings, and approved flexible cords/cables or Chapter 3 secondary wiring.
SLIDE 3 (RECONDITIONED EQUIPMENT BAN)
No Reconditioned Low-Voltage Systems:
Strict Prohibitions: The installation of reconditioned low-voltage lighting systems—or lighting systems assembled from reconditioned parts—is strictly prohibited.
SLIDE 4 (WRAP-UP) 💡 Apprentice Pro-Tip:
When installing low-voltage lighting kits, never mix and match unlisted power supplies and fixtures from different manufacturers unless the entire assembly is evaluated and listed for compatibility!
