• What it used to be: In previous editions (like the 2023 NEC), Annex E provided reference material on Types of Construction (linking building construction types from NFPA 220/model building codes to electrical requirements).

• Status in 2026: It has been completely cleared out and marked as Reserved. This follows the ongoing effort to scrub redundant, non-enforceable building code data out of the NEC so that electricians and inspectors rely strictly on the actual building codes (like the IBC) for construction classifications rather than duplicated informational annexes.
